The Words

We wish to say.

Pieces of perspective
Fall-like grains of sand
And slip through my fingertips
Of my outstretched hand.

Stories have a start middle and end
Much like the threads of life
Here one minute, gone the next
Measures of happiness and strife.

Things have changed they’ve rearranged
The way things are done
In for one and one for all
They fall like the evening sun.

Medium and the tedium
Of the way it works
Melts like the winter snow
Under which there lurks.

Where there was peace and harmony
Once materialised
Parts lost and forgotten
Are now realised.

The platform has been perfect
To place ideas and rhymes
Though it’s just like life
We live in other times.

I’ve always believed in, justice
A fair go, and an ear
And a belief in the underdog
Now even that’s not clear.

I am extremely grateful
That I have found a place
To publicise my views, I have
And thank Medium with grace.

Now is the time to take a bow
And write what’s on our mind
And to leave nocturnal thoughts
Somewhere there behind.

I have no illusions
And have lived easy and rough
To know that I may not change the world
Although one word may be enough.

One word can move mountains
And every voice will count
Whether Ukraine, the floods and rain
Or reckoning the amount.

The parade of people
Writers and poets too
I thank you from my heart
I’ve learned so much from you.

I’ll see you in a minute
An hour or a day
Don’t forget it’s time to vet
The words we wish to say.
