Thoughts

That linger.

Thoughts that mull around my mind,
And linger for a while,
They are sorted and packed and then,
Added to the file.

Waiting for another time,
When they’re relevant,
Neatly sorted in a pile,
Become so prevalent.

They sleep inside the archives,
Then bubble to the top,
When my mind meanders,
And hardly ever stop.

Ask me on a Saturday,
And my thoughts have changed,
Digging up new memories,
From my central exchange.

So when I am lonely,
My mind misses a beat,
Thoughts that tumble in my head,
Right down to my feet.

Single-minded symphonies,
Walking down the aisles,
In the dim the lights are thin,
Luminescent smiles.

I see her there beside me,
My mother causing strife,
Effects that have traumatised us,
Every day of each life.

It’s thoughts like those that linger,
The drink that fills my glass,
Like dew drops in the morning,
Clinging to the grass.
