Time and Tide

Both wander.

I know I’ve had the good and bad
And in-betweens that didn’t fit
I’ve been bitten so bad it would be unfortunate
That before we started, you said let’s quit.

I’ve been through ecstatic moments.
Amazing but don’t always last
Chemistry is the key then pay the fee
Thrilling moments that now have passed.

Friendship grows with respect, my beau.
Where it leads if there’s mutual consent
Love can grow if you go with the flow
Moments can lead to years of content.

I know you say your life is tricky
And your sister’s stamped it with sorority
You may have saved us from emotional ruin
Yet I’ve never seen your true personality.

I know we’ve never been below the surface
Nor sampled a sweet embrace
Yet I was lost regardless of the cost
The first time I saw your smiling face.

Will the wind blow and rescind?
Away what may have been
It may be over. No more rolls in the clover
Yet I know we’re still both keen.

Regardless of the distance
and of what was said
I’d instead sample one sweet kiss
And link the golden thread.

Time and tide both wander.
And as day turns into night.
Love is determined.
That seals our true delight.
