Unrequited
Love.
Falling in a twilight sky
And gathering more speed
All the calls of the wind
Are scattered, like loose seed
I saw you in a photograph
my heart then missed a beat
I didn’t know which way I’d land
On my head or on my feet.
The answers were not written
Somewhere deep inside
As you disappeared into thin air
I joined you for the ride
Distance in an instance
Safe, secure, and serene
A love written on the breeze
Seen through a dream supreme.
The scene was our security
As words of love unwound
We opened up our hearts
And sweet surrender found.
The stars afar up in the sky
Shone on our common ground
And for once in a lifetime
True love is what we found.
The moments caught in circumstance
Were lost in words and songs
Your beauty is like the morning star
A place where I belong.
And then one day we came together
In smiles and flesh and blood
And our dreams burst at the seams
And turned into a flood
And then the bubble burst
Reality took us back
To the fear of commitment
That opened up the crack.
You are the love of my life
Yet in this incarnation
You are my unrequited love
From now until cessation.
