What a Difference a Day Makes

My heart has taken wings.

Photograph thanks to Veronica Hearn.

I lay quietly on my pillow
At the end of the day
And peered out into the night
And movement o’er the Bay.

Up above the sky lit up
In a myriad of stars
Exploding in apocalypse
From Jupiter to Mars.

Stars shattered into sparks
Far up in the sky
Illuminating the water
As clouds flew sailing by.

A panorama of proximity
Alive outside my door
Moved me in subliminal ways
Right down to the core.

There was no more obstruction
The fronds and bushes cleared
Heaven stood on my doorstep
Nothing left that I had feared.

The cool rush of the night breeze
Has caressed my furrowed brow
Again, I’m now in touch it seems
Living in the now.

What a difference a day makes
My heart has taken wings
I can now embrace the open sky
And the beauty that it brings
